Korea Paper Association Chairman Hyunsoo Choi: "Let’s Usher in the Era of K-Paper by Responding to Changes in Demand Structure"

Attended by Over 100 Representatives from Paper Companies and Government Officials

Hyunsoo Choi, chairman of the Korea Paper Association, emphasized the importance of developing high-value-added and high-performance product technologies, stating that the industry must respond swiftly to changes in the structure of paper demand.

On the 13th, Chairman Choi attended the 9th Paper Day ceremony held at the Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, and said, "Although the demand for certain types of paper has decreased due to digitalization, the importance of eco-friendly packaging materials, high-performance industrial paper, and sanitary products is greater than ever before."


Approximately 100 people attended the ceremony, including representatives from eight related upstream and downstream industry associations (the Seoul Gyeongin Paper Wholesale Cooperative, Korea Corrugated Packaging Industry Cooperative, Korea Box Industry Cooperative, Korea Paper Industry Cooperative, Korea Paper Raw Material Recycling Cooperative, Korea Paper Tube Industry Cooperative, and the Korea Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry), as well as key executives from major paper companies, representatives from related industries and academia, and government officials.


In his commemorative address, Chairman Choi stated, "Paper is one of humanity's greatest inventions and an indispensable material that is closest to our daily lives." He continued, "Let us usher in the era of K-Paper with the pride and confidence of those in the paper industry." To achieve this, he outlined the following tasks: responding swiftly to changes in demand structure; solidifying the identity of the industry as an eco-friendly sector; expanding exports based on innovation and competitive advantage; and boldly pursuing technological innovation.


Chairman Choi further stated, "We must go beyond simply producing paper and create new value through convergence with advanced technologies." He added, "We need to boldly invest in the development of technologies that will lead future markets, such as eco-friendly new materials, high-value-added functional specialty papers, and smart packaging, in order to advance into a cutting-edge new materials industry."
