President Lee Emphasizes
"The Most Important Thing Is the Lives and Safety of Our Citizens...
Thorough Management and Supervision to Prevent Economic Damage"
On June 13, President Lee Jaemyung convened an emergency economic security meeting in response to Israel's airstrike on Iran. He stated, "It seems that our economy, which had been entering a phase of stabilization, is now falling into a state of considerable instability." He added, "I ask that you thoroughly manage and supervise the situation so that our economy does not suffer further significant damage due to external shocks."
President Lee also emphasized, "The most important issue is the lives and safety of our citizens. Please closely monitor the situation of our compatriots in the region to determine if there have been any casualties, and carefully consider what measures are needed to prevent harm."
Attendees at the meeting included Chief Presidential Secretary Kang Hunsik, National Security Advisor Wi Sunglak, Policy Chief Kim Yongbeom, Senior Secretary for Economic Growth Ha Junkyung, Senior Secretary for Public Relations and Communications Lee Guyoun, Presidential Security Service Chief Hwang Inkwon, National Affairs Office Chief Song Giho, National Crisis Management Center Chief Kim Sangho, and Spokesperson Kang Yujeong.
President Lee further stated that the government would resolve the situation as quickly as possible. Addressing the public, he said, "The government will take all necessary actions, so please do not worry. We will work to resolve the situation as swiftly as possible."
President Lee added, "Economic and security issues are the most important responsibilities of our government, and I assure you that we will take all necessary measures under any circumstances."
