Stamp Tour, Tourist Taxis, and Souvenirs
Efforts to Attract Tourists Until the End of July
Ulju-gun in Ulsan has launched efforts to attract tourists in hopes of having its representative cultural heritage, the Bangucheon Rock Engravings, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. On June 13, Ulju-gun announced that it will run a tourism event until July 31.
The purpose of this event is to boost local tourism by encouraging participation from both local residents and outside visitors, and to promote the Bangucheon Rock Engravings?which are highly likely to be designated as a World Heritage site?nationwide. The event consists of four programs in total.
First, a "Stamp Tour" will be held, where visitors can collect stamps at nine sites related to the Bangucheon Rock Engravings. The designated locations are Ulsan Daegok Museum, Cheonjeon-ri Dinosaur Footprint Fossil, Cheonjeon-ri Inscriptions and Rock Engravings, Ulsan Rock Engraving Museum, Jipcheongjeong, Bangu Seowon, Bangoseowon Memorial Stone, Daegok-ri Dinosaur Footprint Fossil, and Daegok-ri Bangudae Rock Engravings. Among those who complete the course, 100 people will be selected by lottery to receive Ulju specialty products (worth 20,000 KRW) and two types of Bangucheon Rock Engraving commemorative souvenirs.
A "Bangucheon Tour" using tourist taxis has also been prepared. Visitors from outside Ulsan can choose between a four-hour course (40,000 KRW) or an eight-hour course (80,000 KRW), each covering either the western region or the entire Ulju area. The first 10 participants will also receive Ulju specialty products.
In addition, a "Double Event" will be held: if participants use two or more of the nine "Friend Guide" programs, which are accompanied by cultural tourism interpreters, they will receive a commemorative magnet related to the Bangucheon Rock Engravings.
During the event period, among those who complete the Stamp Tour and participate in at least two Friend Guide programs, 10 people will be selected by lottery to receive a commemorative silver medal featuring the Cheonjeon-ri Inscriptions and Rock Engravings.
An Ulju-gun official stated, "Through this event, we hope to widely share our aspiration for the Bangucheon Rock Engravings to be inscribed as a World Heritage site and provide opportunities for people to enjoy Ulju's unique cultural heritage and natural resources," adding, "We will actively promote Ulju so that more tourists can visit."
