At the Supreme Council meeting of the Democratic Party held at the National Assembly in Yeouido on this day, Acting Leader Park said, "By attending my last Supreme Council meeting today, I am concluding my term as Acting Party Leader and Floor Leader." The Democratic Party will elect its next floor leader later this afternoon.
He added, "I am pleased to be finishing my term after ending the rebellion and establishing the Lee Jaemyung people's sovereignty government. I believe it was the support and candlelight of the sovereign people that safeguarded our security."
Acting Leader Park said, "The Democratic Party has become a responsible ruling party with President Lee Jaemyung at its helm. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the leadership, party members, and citizens who have opened the gate to the real Republic of Korea, a country where sovereignty belongs to the people and all power comes from the people."
He continued, "Once the new floor leader is elected, a new ruling party lineup will be formed. As the ruling party, the Democratic Party must firmly support the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration, never forget the responsibilities entrusted by the people, and devote all our efforts to a better future for Korea."
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party's second-term floor leader election is being contested by two candidates: lawmakers Kim Byungki and Seo Youngkyo. For the first time, the election will be decided by a combined vote, with 80% from National Assembly members reflecting party members' preferences, and 20% from rights-holding party members.
