Economic Recovery and Revitalization Most Demanded at 16%
Democratic Party Support Rate Soars to 46%
People Power Party Support Rate Plummets to 21%
A recent public opinion poll found that 7 out of 10 people believe President Lee Jae Myung will perform his duties well over the next five years. The survey also showed that the public’s top expectation for President Lee is economic recovery.
According to a poll released by Gallup Korea on the 13th (conducted from the 10th to the 12th through wireless phone interviews with 1,000 people nationwide aged 18 or older, with a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level and a response rate of 14.9%), 70% of respondents said they expect President Lee to "perform his presidential duties well over the next five years." Meanwhile, 24% said they expect he will "not do well," and 6% withheld their opinion.
This five-year outlook is a measure that reflects expectations for the administration's future, rather than approval ratings. President Lee’s level of public expectation is higher than that of former President Yoon Suk Yeol (60%), but lower than former President Moon Jae In (87%), and also lower than former Presidents Lee Myung Bak and Park Geun Hye (both 79%).

This was followed by policies for ordinary people and welfare expansion (6%), and hoping the president will work hard and do well (6%). National unity, social cohesion, and cooperation were cited by 5%.
The approval rating for the Democratic Party also soared. The party’s support rate reached 46%, up 7 percentage points from the previous survey. In contrast, the People Power Party’s support rate fell by 12 percentage points to 21%. The gap between the two major parties’ support rates was the largest in five years.
Regarding Prime Minister nominee Kim Min Seok, 49% of respondents said he was suitable for the position. The share who said he was not suitable was 23%. This is the second-highest suitability rating among prime minister nominees, following former Prime Minister Lee Nak Yon (60%).
