Based on renewable energy... Leveraging geographical advantages
Equipped with NVIDIA Blackwell (GB200) GPUs
Gradual expansion up to a maximum scale of 500MW
Team Naver announced on June 13 that it will form a consortium with overseas companies such as NVIDIA to build a large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) data center in Morocco, North Africa. The project aims to provide sovereign AI computing services across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and will begin in earnest in the fourth quarter of this year.

Team Naver, which refers to Naver’s group of affiliates, is partnering with NVIDIA, AI infrastructure specialist Nexus Core Systems, and global investment firm Lloyd Capital to establish the AI data center in Morocco. Morocco is located across the Strait of Gibraltar, directly adjacent to Europe. The project is being carried out just 15 kilometers from Europe, maximizing Morocco’s geographical advantage of being directly connected to Europe via multiple submarine fiber optic cables.
The goal is to build a 500-megawatt (MW)-class renewable energy-based data center in Morocco, which offers competitive advantages in terms of electricity and operating costs, to provide the European market with a more cost-effective and stable AI infrastructure.
In the first phase of the project, a 40MW-class AI supercomputing infrastructure equipped with NVIDIA’s latest Blackwell (GB200) GPUs will be established. The project is planned to be expanded in stages to a maximum of 500MW. To this end, the consortium has signed a strategic renewable energy supply agreement with energy company TAQA, securing a sustainable and stable power infrastructure.
Naver Cloud, together with Nexus Core Systems and Lloyd Capital, will participate as the main platform operator of the data center. Based on its cloud platform, it will provide integrated AI services and applications. In particular, by building a sovereign cloud and AI structure that enables all processes from data storage to processing and operation to be carried out independently on-site, the company plans to respond more precisely to customer needs.
Chae Seonju, Head of Naver Strategic Business, said, “The trust in Naver’s technological capabilities and execution, proven in Saudi Arabia, has led to our participation in this global project. This collaboration will be an important turning point for Naver’s cloud and AI technologies to expand beyond Japan, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East into the European market.”
Chae emphasized, “We will strengthen our capabilities to secure technological leadership and play a meaningful role in the global AI value chain, while expanding collaboration with a variety of partners.”
