Demolition of Eonyang Health Sauna Chimney in Ulju-gun on June 11
15 Old Chimneys Over 20 Years Old to Be Removed by Year-End
Ulsan City carried out the demolition of the chimney at Eonyang Health Sauna, located in Eonyang-eup, Ulju-gun, on June 11 as the first project under the "2025 Bathhouse Old Chimney Maintenance Project."

The chimney that was demolished this time had been left unattended since it was approved for use in 1982. During a safety inspection conducted by Ulsan City last year, multiple cracks were discovered, making its demolition an urgent matter.
Starting with this chimney, Ulsan City plans to sequentially demolish a total of 15 old chimneys by the end of this year.
Once the project is completed, it is expected that the issue of old chimneys in urban areas, which have posed significant safety concerns due to risks such as falling debris and earthquakes, will be largely resolved.
A city official stated, "We will make every effort to ensure safety management and minimize inconvenience to nearby residents during the demolition process," adding, "We will continue to eliminate factors that threaten the safety of citizens and work to improve the city's appearance."
Ulsan City's bathhouse old chimney maintenance project will be implemented over three years starting this year, providing support for 80% of the demolition costs (60% from Ulsan City, 20% from districts and counties) for chimneys that have been in use for more than 20 years since approval.
