Prospects of Former Presidential Candidate Lee Junseok Running for Leadership

Cheon Haram, floor leader and acting party leader, met with reporters at the National Assembly after the Supreme Council meeting on the same day and stated, "We expect to hold a meeting of the National Convention Preparatory Committee early next week to discuss the specific timing and rules for the convention."
The National Convention is expected to be held as early as the beginning of next month.
Cheon explained, "Since the election has ended, the Standing Election Countermeasures Committee has been dissolved, so it is necessary to normalize the party leadership system as soon as possible. The specific details will be finalized at the Preparatory Committee meeting."
Kim Cheolgeun, the Secretary General, was appointed as the chair of the Preparatory Committee. The committee members include Lee Kyungseon, Deputy Secretary General for Organization (Seoul City Party Chair), Kim Miri, Gyeonggi Province Party Chair, Hwang Youngheon, Daegu City Party Chair, Lee Jaewoong, Busan City Party Chair, Hwang Jaeseon, North Gyeongsang Province Party Chair, and Choi Hyunsu, Gwangju City Party Chair.
Former presidential candidate Lee Junseok is also expected to run in the National Convention. On the 5th, after the disbandment ceremony of the presidential election campaign headquarters, he hinted at his candidacy by telling reporters, "If I must take responsibility for next year's local elections, I will not avoid it."
