The Rowing Team of the Sports Promotion Institute at Pukyong National University (President Jang Youngsoo) has once again demonstrated its reputation as a prestigious rowing powerhouse.
From May 31 to June 8, 2025, Pukyong National University achieved remarkable results at the 51st Jang Bogo National Rowing Competition, held at the Busan Seonakdong River Rowing Stadium, winning four gold medals, two silver medals, and five bronze medals.
This competition is regarded as the most prestigious among national rowing events, and the Pukyong National University Rowing Team has established itself as an unrivaled force in the rowing community, having claimed the overall championship an impressive 16 times to date.
In the Division 1 events, the pair of Kim Youngjun and Seo Junghwan won the gold medal in the Men's University Coxless Pair, while the duo of Choi Geunho and Lee Jaewook took bronze in the Double Sculls. Additionally, Kim Youngjun, Seo Junghwan, Choi Geunho, and Lee Jaewook secured another bronze in the Quadruple Sculls.
In the Division 2 events, the team of Kim Youngjun, Choi Geunho, Seo Yujin, Kang Nayoung, and Je Heejin took first place in the Mixed University 4+, while Seo Yujin, Kang Nayoung, Oh Hyunseong, Noh Yooni, and Je Heejin earned bronze in the Women's University 4+ category.
Pukyong National University's strength also shone in the indoor rowing segment. In the Men's University individual event, Kim Sangwon, Choi Geunho, and Kim Youngjun swept the podium with gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively. In the Women's University individual event, Kang Nayoung finished third.
In the team events, Kim Sangwon, Jeon Jaehyuk, Kim Jiho, and Son Seongmin took first place, while Kim Youngjun, Choi Geunho, Seo Junghwan, and Lee Jaewook finished second, continuing the university's medal streak.
Lee Juncheol, head coach of the Pukyong National University Rowing Team, stated, "The perseverance and focus shown by our athletes truly paid off," adding, "We will continue to devote ourselves to training so that Pukyong National University can further enhance its reputation on the national stage."
