Through this agreement, the two institutions will actively apply AI technology to practical operations and fully promote digital transformation tailored to the university.
The signing ceremony was attended by Bae Sungcheol, Vice President for Academic Affairs at UNIST; Kim Jaejun, Director of Academic Information; Lim Jonghee, Head of Information Strategy; and representatives from Microsoft Korea.
Under the agreement, UNIST will introduce 'Microsoft 365 Copilot.' This will enable members of the university to experience and utilize generative AI within Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
To provide customized AI services tailored to the university's characteristics, UNIST will integrate Microsoft's Azure AI Foundry and, for the first time in Korea, develop its own AI platform.
By utilizing Azure AI Foundry, users will be able to access various state-of-the-art large language models (LLMs) such as GPT-4o, Llama, and Mistral, allowing the university to operate AI services specialized for its educational environment.
Microsoft Korea will offer cultural programs such as an AI experience booth and a promptathon (prompt competition). This is a user-centered digital transformation strategy designed to help members actively engage with AI.
AI technology is also expected to significantly enhance digital literacy. UNIST members will learn the basic principles and applications of generative AI and seek practical ways to apply them in educational settings.
Vice President Bae Sungcheol stated, "We will provide M365 Copilot and our own AI platform to UNIST members so they can utilize them as customized chatbots, AI assistants, and more," adding, "We plan to launch a pilot program in the second half of this year to establish an independent AI technology ecosystem unique to UNIST."
