HwaWoo Law Firm CI.
HwaWoo will host the seminar at 3:00 p.m. on June 19 at the HwaWoo Training Center in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The event is intended for in-house counsel, legal, and HR professionals from various companies. The seminar will cover three sessions: the direction of the new government's labor policies, legislative trends regarding the principal employer's status, and corporate response strategies.
In the first session, Lim Seojeong, former Vice Minister of Employment and Labor, will present on "The Direction of the New Government's Labor Policies." Lim Seojeong has held key positions at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, served as Vice Minister, and also as Chief Presidential Secretary for Job Creation.
The second and third sessions will focus on the issue of amendments to the Trade Union Act, which are expected to be rapidly pursued by the new government. The new government is anticipated to push for legislation regarding the recognition and scope of principal employer status for workers employed by subcontractors, which has been discussed in case law based on "substantial control." In particular, the industrial relations of principal employers are expected to enter a new phase, especially in relation to subcontractor unions, making this a critical issue for which companies must be thoroughly prepared.
The second session will be led by HwaWoo partner attorney Hong Jeongmo (5th Bar Exam), who will discuss "Legislative Trends and Criteria for Recognizing Principal Employer Status," examining the new government's legislative policies and direction. The third session, titled "Corporate Response Strategies Following Recognition of Principal Employer Status," will be presented by HwaWoo partner attorney Park Samgeun (Judicial Research and Training Institute, 33rd class). Park Samgeun is an expert in labor law and labor administration, having served at the Central Labor Relations Commission, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and the Samsung Electronics legal team.
Park Chankun, partner attorney leading HwaWoo's labor group (Judicial Research and Training Institute, 33rd class), stated, "The new government is expected to implement worker-friendly policies, and a new environment is likely to be created in relations with labor unions. By participating in this seminar, companies will be able to anticipate policy directions and respond rationally, thereby creating a management environment conducive to coexisting with workers."
