Market Research Firm Circana Reports
Global Market Share Reaches 52%
Maintaining World’s No. 1 Position for 13 Consecutive Years
LG Electronics maintained its number one position in the North American OLED TV market in the first quarter of this year.
According to market research firm Circana on June 11, LG Electronics held a 51% market share based on units sold in the North American OLED TV market in the first quarter, retaining its top spot.
This ranking is based on sell-out data, which tracks sales from retailers to consumers. This means that one out of every two OLED TVs actually sold in North America is an LG OLED TV.
LG OLED TVs are reportedly gaining popularity in the North American market thanks to their outstanding picture quality, differentiated artificial intelligence (AI) features, unique wireless audio-video (AV) transmission solutions, and the industry's largest lineup, which includes 97, 83, 77, 65, 55, 48, and 42-inch models.
In fact, LG OLED TVs received the highest ratings in every size category?70 inches and above, 65 inches, 55 to 60 inches, 46 to 52 inches, and 39 to 43 inches?in a review by the leading U.S. consumer media outlet Consumer Reports, thereby being recognized for their differentiated customer value.
The U.S. IT media outlet Mashable also recently named LG Electronics the "Best OLED TV Brand" in its evaluation of "Best TV Brands Tested by Experts," praising the LG OLED Evo (model name G5) as "by far the most impressive OLED TV we've seen so far."
Meanwhile, based on sell-in, or shipments from manufacturers to distribution channels, LG Electronics ranked number one in the North American OLED TV market for 12 consecutive years through last year.
However, in the first quarter of this year, Samsung Electronics' market share based on shipments increased to 45.2%, about 3 percentage points higher than LG Electronics. Industry observers attribute this to Samsung Electronics temporarily stockpiling inventory to address tariff issues and other factors, as evidenced by the difference between sell-in and sell-out data.
LG Electronics explained that, aside from the temporary situation in North America in the first quarter, the company is on track to be the global OLED TV market leader for 13 consecutive years, with a global market share of about 52%. LG OLED TVs surpassed a cumulative global shipment of 20 million units last year and also exceeded 10 million cumulative shipments in Europe, a major premium TV market, further demonstrating its leadership in the premium TV segment.
