Pocheon City announced on the 11th that it held a basic design briefing session for the development and production project of 'Hantangang Media Art Park' content on the 9th.
The briefing session was attended by media content and design experts, the Yeoncheon-Pocheon branch of Korea Water Resources Corporation, and representatives of local residents. The participants engaged in in-depth discussions on a range of topics, including the selection of themes, content development plans, media art production plans for each zone, and future operation strategies.
The 'Hantangang Media Art Park' will be created around Bidulginang Falls in Daehoesan-ri, Yeongbuk-myeon, and the ecological landscape complex in Jung-ri, Gwanin-myeon, both of which are core locations in the Hantangang tourism area of Pocheon. By linking with existing tourism infrastructure such as walking trails, the Hantangang Sky Bridge, and the Y-shaped suspension bridge, the park aims to become a high-value-added tourist destination that offers both extended stays and hands-on experiences.
The project gained momentum after being selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Border Area Development Support Project.' This year, the 'Y-shaped Suspension Bridge Landscape Lighting Installation' project was also selected for Gyeonggi Province's tourism resource development support program, further expanding the scale of the initiative.
The total development area spans 2.2 kilometers and will feature media content for both day and night. The park will include a Hantangang columnar joint media show, large-scale kinetic sculptures, extra-large projection mapping, and a forest media safari, all utilizing information and communication technology (ICT) to create a complex cultural space that can attract visitors year-round.
Through this project, Pocheon City aims to further enhance the brand value of Hantangang, which has been designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark. The city also plans to establish a tourism industry cluster and attract private investment, thereby revitalizing the local economy and upgrading tourism resources simultaneously.
Mayor Baek Younghyun stated, "Hantangang is a key resource that will drive the future tourism industry of Pocheon. By developing Hantangang Media Art Park into a leading digital, nature-themed, multi-purpose tourist attraction in the Seoul metropolitan area, we will bring about changes that both citizens and tourists can truly experience."
Meanwhile, Pocheon City plans to hold a demonstration event for video content development in July, open the first phase of the park in the second half of this year, and complete the full opening of the second phase in the first half of 2026.
