Month of Patriots and Veterans,
From Today, I Am a Protector of the Nation
The Gyeongnam Eastern Regional Office of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs held a meaningful event at small schools in Gyeongsangnam-do, each with around 20 students, to commemorate the Month of Patriots and Veterans and to reflect on the significance of loving one's country.
According to the office on June 11, a one-day special lecture themed "From Today, I Am a Protector of the Nation" was held primarily for first and second graders at Wolchon Elementary School in Haman County, Chilgok Elementary School in Uiryeong County, and Garecho Elementary School.
This program was designed as a hands-on special lecture, focusing on naturally conveying an understanding of and respect for the nation from a child's perspective. The students first learned about the Taegeukgi and the national anthem through a quiz-based lesson, and then experienced the meaning firsthand by making Taegeukgi pinwheels themselves.
After completing the activities, the students were awarded a "Protector of the Nation" gold badge and a certificate of appointment, instilling in them a strong sense of pride as individuals entrusted with the role of protecting the country.
Kim Sangwoo, head of the regional office, stated, "Because the number of students is small, each and every student is a precious treasure. I hope that the spirit of patriotism that began in this small classroom today will be remembered for a lifetime," and emphasized, "Cooperation with small local schools can be the starting point for warmer and deeper education on patriotism and veterans affairs."
