The Sampyo Group Jeong Inwook Academic Scholarship Foundation announced on June 11 that it held a scholarship certificate award ceremony for the "Support Program for Cultivating Talented Youth in Arts and Sports" on June 9 at Green Agora, ChildFund Korea in Jung-gu, Seoul, and presented scholarship certificates to nine youth and adolescents preparing for independence.
At the award ceremony, key figures such as Yoo Yongjae, Secretary General of the Jeong Inwook Academic Scholarship Foundation, and Shin Jeongwon, Head of Social Contribution Cooperation at ChildFund Korea, attended to congratulate the selected scholarship recipients. In addition, writer Lee Mael, a senior youth who has prepared for independence and is now an independence activist, gave a special lecture to encourage the youth.
Previously, the Jeong Inwook Academic Scholarship Foundation and ChildFund Korea comprehensively evaluated the talent development plans and award histories of youth and adolescents preparing for independence who are striving to achieve their dreams in the arts and sports fields, and selected the scholarship recipients. Among the selected recipients, three are in the sports field (including track and field and wheelchair fencing), and six are in the arts field (including dance, ceramics, violin, and composition), for a total of nine students.
The Jeong Inwook Academic Scholarship Foundation will provide up to 4 million KRW per person to support the cultivation of these talented individuals. The scholarships may be used for lessons and training fees, material purchases, and competition participation costs. In particular, additional congratulatory funds will be provided separately to those who win awards at arts and sports competitions.
The scholarship recipients, youth preparing for independence, expressed their gratitude, saying, "We have kept running without giving up on our dreams, but have always felt overwhelmed by financial burdens," and added, "This scholarship has given us the courage and confidence to move forward toward our dreams."
Yoo Yongjae, Secretary General of the Jeong Inwook Academic Scholarship Foundation, stated, "I hope that youth preparing for independence will not have to give up on their dreams due to economic circumstances or the gap in opportunities," and added, "We will continue to do our best to reduce the imbalance in opportunities so that these young people can nurture their dreams and talents and move forward."
