Former Daegu Mayor Hong Junpyo has issued a warning to the People Power Party. His remarks are interpreted as expressing concern over the recent atmosphere within the party, which is focusing on internal power struggles rather than on reflection and reform following the presidential election defeat.

On June 11, Hong Junpyo stated on his Facebook page, "It appears that after the special prosecutor investigation ends, the Lee Jaemyung administration will begin the process of dissolving the party, so you should all prepare to fend for yourselves."

Hong said, "There is a saying that when someone points at the moon, some people only look at the tip of the finger. What I am saying is factual and a warning to respond accordingly, but there are fools who interpret it as criticism directed at themselves."

He continued, "I had already publicly warned about the impeachment of Yoon Sukyeol 40 days in advance, at a National Assembly event attended by 16 People Power Party lawmakers. No one listened, but even then, the party's lawmakers did not understand what my words meant. This is exactly what it means to be ignorant and unenlightened."

Hong Junpyo has recently been voicing both warnings and concerns to the People Power Party, with which he has been affiliated for the past 30 years. On June 5, he stated, "That party is now so deeply diseased that it is nearly impossible to revive. It has no ideology, is a pseudo-lemming group falsely claiming to be conservative, and is merely an interest group seeking only personal gain. Do not blame me, and do not blame Lee Junseok, who is at least the last remaining spark for the revival of conservatism. All of this is your own doing. The coming ICE AGE will be a harsh time."

Meanwhile, Hong has expressed a negative stance regarding speculation that he might join the Reform Party. On June 9, when a supporter expressed concern on his communication channel, saying, "There are rumors that Mayor Hong will join 'Junseok's group.' If you join the Reform Party, you will be labeled a turncoat," Hong replied, "The idea of joining the Reform Party is groundless rumor."
