Gyeonggi Province has produced 2,000 sets of the 'Safe Day Kit' and is distributing them to cities and counties in order to help residents who must evacuate due to various disasters maintain a stable living environment.
The Safe Day Kit is an emergency relief set designed to provide residents who have temporarily evacuated to places such as community centers or senior centers with the basic items they need for the day in unpredictable disaster situations.
The kit consists of a total of seven items: a toothpaste and toothbrush set, face-washing supplies, a towel, a blanket, toilet paper, a disposable raincoat, and a mask. These are all daily necessities for one person for one day. A total of 55 million won from the disaster relief fund was used for production.
The kits will be distributed directly to residents at evacuation sites such as community centers, in accordance with the current disaster and safety management laws that stipulate the procedures for issuing evacuation orders.
Gyeonggi Province plans to reflect additional demand in the future, taking into account each city and county's disaster types and population needs, starting with the production of these 2,000 sets.
The province expects this support to minimize inconvenience for residents and facilitate smooth evacuation, thereby preventing secondary damage. In particular, as the kit consists mainly of daily necessities, it is expected to play a major role in enhancing initial disaster response capabilities.
Lee Jongdon, Director of Safety Management at Gyeonggi Province, said, "Disasters can happen at any time, and the sooner we prepare, the safer we are. We will continue to expand the Safe Day Kit so that every resident can be guaranteed a minimum standard of living in times of crisis."
