On June 10, Hwaseong City signed a 'Business Agreement for Strengthening the Technological Competitiveness of Universities and Hwaseong City Companies' with the National Research Foundation of Korea at the Grand Ballroom of Suwon Science College Syntex.
This agreement was established to connect universities' fundamental technologies with the technological needs of companies in Hwaseong City, thereby promoting technology commercialization, enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, and building a practical industry-academia cooperation ecosystem. The National Research Foundation of Korea, a party to the agreement, serves as the control tower supporting universities' technology commercialization.
Under the agreement, the city will pursue follow-up initiatives including: identifying the technological needs of local companies and delivering them to the Foundation; promoting the National Research Foundation of Korea's technology commercialization platform (NRF-TCC) for technology matching; and operating technology consulting sessions, strategic seminars, and the Hwaseong City SME Advisory Group.
The National Research Foundation of Korea will take on a field-oriented advisory role by: discovering and providing outstanding patents and fundamental technologies from universities nationwide; supporting the planning and practical application of technologies suitable for Hwaseong City's specialized industries; and connecting university experts with the Hwaseong City SME Advisory Group.
Jung Myunggeun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, stated, "This agreement will not only enhance the technological competitiveness of local companies but also serve as a foundation for Hwaseong City to lead a research-based industrial ecosystem. We will create a sustainable innovation model in which industry, academia, and government grow together."
