Once designated as an alley-type shopping district, these areas can participate in various government programs, similar to traditional markets, and are eligible to register as affiliates for Onnuri gift certificates. To apply for alley-type shopping district status, the area must have a concentration of small businesses such as restaurants and retail shops, and a merchants association must be organized.

With this designation, the number of alley-type shopping districts in Pyeongtaek has increased to five, including the existing Ichung Central Shopping District, Taepyeong Shopping Street Alley-type Shopping District, and Cheongbuk Furniture Complex Shopping District.

Jung Jangsun, mayor of Pyeongtaek, stated, "I hope that the designation of alley-type shopping districts will serve as an important turning point in enhancing the competitiveness of local commercial areas," adding, "We will continue to expand the foundation for strengthening the competitiveness of small businesses and revitalizing the local economy."
