Gimpo City in Gyeonggi Province has officially begun practical economic cooperation with Thu Duc City in Vietnam.

According to Gimpo City on June 10, the city dispatched the '2025 1st Overseas Market Development Team' to Thu Duc City in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from June 3 to June 10. The team participated in the 'Vietnam International Premium Consumer Goods Expo (VIPREMIUM)' held locally and supported regional companies in their overseas expansion efforts.
At this exhibition, participating companies from Gimpo City conducted a total of 66 export consultations, achieving consultation results amounting to approximately $11.72 million (about 15.8 billion KRW). Of these, contracts worth approximately $2.99 million (about 4 billion KRW) are highly likely to be finalized, and these are expected to lead to tangible export outcomes.
Five outstanding local companies?Dongil FNT Co., Ltd., Dream Chef Co., Ltd., Slowcorp Co., Ltd., Xenon Korea, and GSI Co., Ltd.?participated in this exhibition. Of the 66 consultations, contracts worth about $2.99 million are expected to proceed, and sample contracts worth approximately $130,000 were also signed on-site.
In particular, among the participating companies, Slowcorp Co., Ltd. was selected as one of the top 20 outstanding products out of 191 companies at the exhibition’s 'Best Product Awards', an affiliated event. The company was also chosen for Best Product Design, attracting attention as it received local influencer promotion.
The participating companies stated, "Thanks to the Korean Wave, there was high interest from buyers in K-food, K-cosmetics, and K-health foods. Practical support such as FTA consulting, overseas certification guidance, and buyer matching during the exhibition preparation process was extremely helpful. We received positive evaluations regarding product competitiveness and quality, and we expect initial exports to begin in earnest."
In addition, on June 9, about 50 officials and businesspeople from both cities attended a business networking program held at the Thu Duc City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC). The event included greetings from city delegations, company presentations, open networking, and discussions on cooperation.
From Thu Duc City, companies in the fields of refrigeration (cooling) facilities, pharmaceuticals, and dentistry participated, while from Gimpo City, export-promising companies focused on premium consumer goods such as food, kitchenware, and household goods took part. Both sides confirmed various possibilities for cooperation. With the official friendship agreement between the two cities scheduled for later this year, it is said that a foundation for economic cooperation has been established.
A Gimpo City official stated, "The dispatch of this overseas market development team is significant not only as participation in an exhibition but also as the establishment of a sustainable foundation for economic cooperation and mutual growth. We plan to further expand our multidimensional corporate support model that connects exhibitions, meetings, and follow-up support."
Meanwhile, this economic exchange by Gimpo City is part of ongoing cooperation based on mutual trust between the two cities. In January, a Gimpo City delegation was invited to the 4th anniversary event of Thu Duc City's establishment and made an official visit to the People's Committee. During this visit, the two cities discussed specific friendship exchange projects for mutual development. With this visit, practical exchanges and cooperation between the two cities are expected to expand further in the future.
