Members of the National Assembly with backgrounds in science and technology have announced their intention to actively serve as a bridge in the new administration, ensuring that cutting-edge technological innovation leads to industrial development.
On June 11 at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, Hwang Jeonga, a member of the Democratic Party, stated in her congratulatory address at the '2025 Asia Future Enterprise Forum,' "President Lee Jaemyung has pledged to expand the stable research and development (R&D) budget and to devise large-scale, concentrated investment plans for national high-tech strategic industries." Hwang, who previously served as a principal researcher at the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, is a scientist who developed the payload for Korea's first science and technology satellite, Wooribyul-4, and the Doyosat (a microsatellite) aboard the Nuri rocket.

Regarding the theme of this forum, "Quantum Computer Technology: Seeking Industrialization," she said, "I believe this reflects the vision and determination to use science and technology as the engine of innovation to create new growth drivers for industry and society as a whole," adding, "Quantum computers offer a new approach to solving problems that are difficult to tackle with conventional computers."
Hwang predicted that quantum computer technology will provide innovative solutions in a variety of fields, including drug development at the molecular level, climate prediction, and the analysis of complex systems. She also emphasized, "I will do my utmost, together with the people’s government, to establish an institutional foundation that breathes life into the quantum computer R&D ecosystem and enables advanced technology to make real contributions to industry and society, rather than remaining in the experimental stage." She further stressed, "I will work hard on the ground to create a virtuous cycle in which technological innovation leads to jobs, industrial growth, and national competitiveness."
Ko Dongjin, a member of the People Power Party and former CEO of Samsung Electronics, also stated in his congratulatory address, "Quantum computer technology is transforming the paradigms of advanced industries such as artificial intelligence, drug development, and finance. Countries around the world are already fiercely competing to secure supremacy in quantum technology, which is emerging as the next-generation game changer following AI (artificial intelligence)."
Ko said, "At this important juncture, I find it very meaningful that we have a forum to assess the current state of quantum computing technology in Korea and to discuss strategies for industrialization." He promised, "I, too, will spare no effort in providing policy and legislative support in the National Assembly to ensure that quantum computer technology becomes a new growth engine for Korea."
