On June 10, Yeonggwang County in Jeollanam-do announced that it will strengthen intensive summer disinfection activities to prevent infectious diseases such as malaria and Japanese encephalitis and to minimize inconvenience to residents caused by pests as the hot season begins in earnest.

This summer disinfection campaign will continue from June through October, with systematic disinfection carried out across the county during the period when sanitary pests such as mosquitoes and flies are most active. In particular, 1,378 vulnerable locations?including densely populated areas, puddles, sewers, riversides, livestock facilities, and parks?have been designated as key management zones for proactive disinfection.

The Yeonggwang County Public Health Center will conduct regular disinfection at least five times a week from June to October. In blind spots that are difficult to access and are vulnerable to pests, larval control will be carried out twice a week. In densely populated areas, adult mosquito control will be conducted three times a week at night. The county is making every effort to ensure thorough summer disinfection.

The county is conducting fogging and thermal fogging disinfection using disinfection vehicles, as well as manual disinfection with portable equipment and activities to eliminate larval habitats. To encourage residents to participate in voluntary pest control, the county is distributing disinfection supplies such as insecticides and larval control agents free of charge, and is also providing education and promotional activities on proper disinfection practices.

An official from the Yeonggwang County Public Health Center stated, "Summer disinfection is key to preventing infectious diseases," and urged, "We ask all residents to actively participate in collective disinfection efforts, such as regularly cleaning around the home, separating and disposing of waste, and removing standing water."
