Cho Hyunwook from Ulsan Gangnam High School Wins Grand Prize
The 23rd National High School Design·Art Practical Competition, hosted by Dongmyung University, has concluded.
At this competition, Cho Hyunwook, a student from Ulsan Gangnam High School, won the grand prize, demonstrating the outstanding skills of design and art talents from across the country.
Dongmyung University announced on June 10 that it held the award ceremony for the 23rd competition at the university's Architecture·Design Hall on May 30. The ceremony, hosted by Professor Kim Jaeik from the Department of Visual Design, was filled with a festive atmosphere.

The grand prize in the Basic Design category went to Cho Hyunwook from Ulsan Gangnam High School. The gold prize in the Situational Expression category was awarded to Oh Sumin from Jure Girls' High School, while the silver prize in the Basic Design category was jointly awarded to Park Minwoo and Kim Juyeop from Ulsan High School. The bronze prize was awarded to Bae Gayoung from Gimhae Jeil High School in the Comic Strip category, Park Minseo from Changwon Yongho High School in the Basic Design category, and Shin Jiwon from Vision High School in the Human Figure Watercolor category.
In addition, a total of more than 160 students from across the country were recognized for their skills, including 11 special awards, 12 encouragement awards, 34 selected works, and 100 honorable mentions.
Winners of the bronze prize or higher will be eligible for scholarships if they enroll in a design-related department at Dongmyung University within three years from the year of the award, specifically for the 2026 academic year.
Jung Wonjun, Chair of the Organizing Committee and Professor of Visual Design, who oversaw the competition, said, "Many high-quality works were submitted, and the judges were delighted to evaluate them. We were able to confirm that high school students nationwide are further developing their design capabilities, as there were many works with a clear understanding of the theme, creative expression techniques, and a high level of completion."
The award-winning works were exhibited at the Dongmyung Gallery on the second floor of the Architecture·Design Hall at Dongmyung University until June 6, receiving positive responses from students, parents, and citizens.
A Dongmyung University representative stated, "We will continue to develop the competition to discover the creative talents of high school students nationwide and to expand the base of design and art education."
