Runs the 'Debimama' YouTube Channel
31-Year Fashion Designer Shares Her Cooking Life
Blending Pepper Sells Out in Three Days
"Cooking, like fashion, needs its own style."
Yoon Wonjung, CEO of Davis and operator of the cooking YouTube channel 'Debimama,' said in a recent interview with our publication, "When a beautiful table and the right tools are combined with heartfelt stories, that becomes a Debimama recipe."
Debimama is a YouTube channel that shares sophisticated yet easy-to-follow party cooking tips. Yoon is a veteran fashion designer with 31 years of experience. She studied at Pratt Institute, a prestigious university in New York, and even won the Presidential Award at the 9th Korea Fashion Awards hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. Since launching the fashion brand 'Andy & Debb' with her husband Kim Seokwon in 1999, she has been actively working in places such as New York and Paris.
Recently, Yoon Wonjung has been focusing on cooking. Cooking has been a long-time hobby and part of her daily life. Having lived in New York for over 10 years, she is familiar with international and party cuisine. She would often buy and collect ingredients while traveling abroad and cook for friends and acquaintances. When she happened to share photos of her daily life on social media, she quickly gained over 33,000 followers. Yoon explained, "While living overseas, I experienced various food cultures and would buy quality ingredients to cook and serve to those around me. Since I pay a lot of attention to menu planning, tableware, and plating in my everyday life, many followers on social media became curious about these aspects."
Since 2023, Yoon has been running her own restaurant, 'Debbie's.' As a designer, she sought to increase touchpoints with customers through a flagship store, but was captivated by a location with a view of Changdeokgung Palace and decided to open a restaurant instead. Most Debimama content is filmed here. The witty channel name also originated at this location: a young customer, seeing the restaurant next to the palace, remarked, "It's like the house of Daebi Mama," inspiring the name.

The most popular content on the Debimama channel is the 'home party tips' videos. These videos go beyond sharing party recipes?they include menu planning, table setting, plating techniques, and even the mindset of a party host, reaching 220,000 views. Adding stories related to each dish or ingredient is a distinctive feature of Debimama content.
Yoon said, "When I become interested in a field, I tend to explore it deeply, which is why I share stories about cooking with viewers. For example, the brunch menu Eggs Benedict has three main origin stories, and sharing such interesting facts helps viewers experience the food in a much more multi-dimensional way."
Recently, she has expanded into the tableware and kitchenware commerce business. As her designer-curated kitchen and various tableware were featured in her YouTube videos, subscribers began requesting that she sell props and dishes. Yoon responded by launching a 'lifestyle' section in the Andy & Debb online store, offering selected tableware from Davis and carefully chosen cooking ingredients, which has received a positive response. By utilizing the Cafe24 platform and its YouTube Shopping feature, she now showcases products for sale through the 'Store' tab and content within the Debimama channel.
The response has been explosive. The 'blending pepper' sold out within three days of its release, and some customers have spent over 1 million won at once on plates designed by Yoon, despite their high price. Yoon commented, "I posted content because I wanted to share products I made or personally enjoyed with everyone. I'm happy that people recognize their value and make purchases. It's effective to run a business similar to home shopping through a personal YouTube channel."
Yoon plans to continue sharing various aspects of daily life?cooking, tableware, spaces, and fashion?through the Debimama channel. She stated, "In the future, I don't plan to create products just for content, but rather to operate in a way where products naturally follow from genuinely good experiences. Through Debimama, I hope to evolve from a fashion designer into a lifestyle designer and develop the channel into a content platform that encompasses all aspects of living."
