Also Serves as a Shelter for Local Residents

In connection with this, a groundbreaking ceremony was held locally on June 4. The event was attended by Kim Beomho, Vice President of the corporation; Lee Youngjae, Vice Chairman of the corporation's labor union; Um Honggil, Executive Director of the foundation; officials from the Ministry of Education of Shurket, Nepal; and about 70 other participants.
The Nepal Human School is planned as a newly constructed, three-story facility with 16 classrooms, replacing the existing school building. It will be able to accommodate about 1,000 students, and considering the area's frequent earthquakes, it is designed to serve as a shelter for approximately 8,000 local residents in the event of a natural disaster.
The 21st Global Volunteer Group, consisting of 30 executives and employees of the corporation, carried out joint labor-management educational volunteer activities in the Shurket region starting June 2, in conjunction with the groundbreaking ceremony. The volunteers provided classes on Korean culture, including the Korean language, Taekwondo, and traditional music, and presented students with study supplies such as writing materials.
Since 2011, the corporation has been conducting global social contribution projects targeting underdeveloped countries. This year, the company explained that it has worked to improve the educational environment for children in Nepal, one of the poorest countries in Asia, by building the Human School and carrying out educational volunteer activities.
Lee Hakjae, President of the corporation, stated, "We hope that the Human School, built with the corporation's support, will be a small help in improving the educational environment for children in Nepal." He added, "As a global airport company, we will continue to faithfully fulfill our social responsibilities as a public enterprise by carrying out social contribution projects in various fields both domestically and internationally."
