Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province drew attention by winning the 'Excellence in Promotion Award' at the 40th Seoul International Tourism Expo, held at COEX in Seoul, after conducting a passionate tourism promotion campaign.
Goryeong County was praised for captivating visitors with a variety of tourism resources and hands-on events during the four-day expo, which took place from June 5 to June 8, 2025.

This year’s tourism expo was hosted by the Seoul International Tourism Expo Organizing Committee and the International Tourism Forum, and organized by KOTFA. The event was held with the cooperation of related organizations such as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Korea Tourism Organization, as well as international tourism bodies including UN Tourism and PATA. A total of 406 companies from 41 countries and regions participated.
The county focused on introducing its leading attractions, including the 'Jisandong Ancient Tombs,' a UNESCO World Heritage site, and 'Gaesil Village,' a candidate for UN Tourism’s Best Tourism Villages. In addition, the county promoted the first 'Goryeong Melbing Festival' and organized events such as a roulette game themed around Goryeong melons and an SNS guerrilla event, encouraging participation from both visitors in the Seoul metropolitan area and international attendees.
The booth also featured a photo zone with Goryeong County’s tourism mascot, 'Gogo String Band,' and offered popular souvenirs such as Goryeong melon jam and cute character dolls, attracting a steady stream of visitors.
Lee Namcheol, the governor of Goryeong County, said, "This year’s Seoul International Tourism Expo was a meaningful opportunity to glimpse the present and future of Korea’s tourism industry. We will continue our efforts to raise the profile of Goryeong County as a World Heritage city and to invigorate the domestic and international tourism markets."
