The shingles vaccination support program, which Ulju County in Ulsan is conducting for residents aged 50 and older, is receiving an enthusiastic response as a large number of participants are taking part.
According to Ulju County, as of June 9, the number of participants who have received the vaccination was counted at 6,422. On the first day of the program, 3,500 people visited, leading to long lines at public health centers and designated medical institutions.
This program targets Ulju County residents born before December 31, 1975, who have no record of shingles vaccination in the integrated vaccination management system. A total budget of 1,577,600,000 won has been allocated to provide one dose of the 'live shingles vaccine' until supplies run out.
Basic livelihood security recipients and those in the lower income bracket are eligible for free vaccination, while general residents only need to pay an administration fee of 19,610 won. Vaccinations are available at the Ulju County Public Health Center, the Southern Integrated Health Center, and 25 designated medical institutions within the county.
An official from Ulju County stated, "Since shingles poses a high risk of occurrence and complications among the elderly, we strongly encourage eligible residents to get vaccinated."
