"Mission: Impossible ? Dead Reckoning" Becomes the Highest-Grossing Foreign Film of the Year in Korea

On June 10, distributor Lotte Entertainment announced that the film had attracted a cumulative audience of 3,017,751. This surpasses the previous record for the most-viewed foreign film in South Korea this year, which was held by director Bong Joonho's "Mickey 17" with 3,013,483 viewers.

On its opening day, May 17, "Mission: Impossible ? Dead Reckoning" drew 423,892 viewers, achieving the highest opening score among this year's releases and marking a strong start at the box office. The film reached 1 million viewers within five days of release and surpassed 2 million viewers in twelve days.

However, the film's long-term box office momentum has slowed recently due to the release of the Korean superhero film "Hi-Five" and the Hollywood fantasy film "How to Train Your Dragon." In particular, the daily audience count dropped to the 10,000 range the previous day, causing the film to fall to fourth place at the box office.

"Mission: Impossible ? Dead Reckoning" is the eighth installment in the "Mission: Impossible" series, with Cruise starring as the lead since the first film. The movie follows the journey of Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) as he undertakes a mission amid a crisis that threatens all of humanity.
