Analysis of Factors Influencing the Use of Seoul Arts Center
Sangmyung University announced on June 10 that Yelim Sim and Gahyun Lee, fourth-year students majoring in Cultural Arts Management, received an Outstanding Paper Award at the Korea Entertainment Industry Association under the guidance of Professor Hyunsoo Kim.
They presented their research, "A Study on Importance-Performance Analysis of Factors Influencing the Use of Multipurpose Cultural Spaces in Performance Venues: Focusing on Seoul Arts Center," at the 2025 Spring Academic Conference held at the College of Physical Education Research Building of Keimyung University from May 24 to 25.
The study analyzed a total of 210 valid survey responses collected between March 19 and April 5. The majority of respondents were women in their 20s and 30s.
The results showed that Seoul Arts Center received positive evaluations for its cultural symbolism as a multipurpose cultural space and for providing opportunities for participation.
However, the study found that while factors such as spatial excellence, price adequacy, and location suitability were considered highly important, satisfaction with these aspects was low, indicating a need for improvement.
Yelim Sim said, "It was meaningful to be able to explore the field of performance venues, which I have always been interested in, in depth."
Gahyun Lee also stated, "I am happy that the paper we prepared through more than six months of research and meetings received such a positive evaluation," adding, "I hope to continue researching the impact of cultural and artistic spaces on local communities in the future."
Professor Hyunsoo Kim, their advisor, said, "It is a significant achievement for undergraduate students to present a paper and receive an Outstanding Paper Award at a prestigious domestic academic conference," and added, "I hope the students, who approached their research with passion and diligence, will continue to expand their academic capabilities."
