Disney+ announced on the 10th that it will produce and release the original series "Goldland" next year.
The drama tells the story of Heeju, who accidentally comes into possession of gold bars from a smuggling organization and becomes consumed by desire while fighting for survival amid chaos driven by the greed and betrayal of various characters. The cast includes Park Boyoung, Kim Sungcheol, Lee Hyunwook, Kim Heewon, Moon Junghui, and Lee Kwangsoo.
The series will be directed by Kim Seonghun, known for the films "Confidential Assignment" and "Rampant," as well as the drama "Chief Detective 1958." He will collaborate with writer Hwang Jo-yoon, who wrote the screenplays for "Rampant," "Memoir of a Murderer," "Masquerade," and "Oldboy." The production will be a joint effort between Studio Dragon and the film company Leechang.
