A Vibrant Marketplace Uniting Local Small Business Owners, Citizens, and Visitors
Yeongju City, North Gyeongsang Province, will hold the 'Yeongju Ieum Market' on June 11 at the Yeongju Ieum Center (Myeongnyun-gil, Yeongju City), bringing together local small business owners, citizens, and tourists.
The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is designed to revitalize the local economy and foster community interaction. Organized by the Yeongju Tourism Association, the Yeongju Ieum Center planned the event to provide local small businesses with new sales channels.
This market will feature local specialties such as traditional soybean paste, Punggi ginseng, and Punggi rayon, as well as handicrafts. More than 10 local small business vendors will participate, offering visitors opportunities to experience and purchase a variety of products.
Korea Railroad Corporation's North Gyeongsang Headquarters and the Workers' Welfare Corporation will also participate, providing visitors with information on train services and worker welfare programs.
Kim Taekwoo, President of the Yeongju Tourism Association, stated, "This market serves as a space for communication where residents and tourists can come together, and as a model for revitalizing the local economy," adding, "We will continue to discover Yeongju's unique resources and content to promote the joint growth of tourism and local industries."
Choi Hyuk, Director of Tourism Promotion at Yeongju City, emphasized, "We aim to promote the Yeongju Ieum Center as an open space for both residents and tourists, and contribute to the development of the local economy and tourism."
The Yeongju Ieum Center was established by remodeling an unused space (a Grade 3 government residence) after being selected in 2021 for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Community Revitalization Infrastructure Project.' Since May 2023, the Yeongju Tourism Association has been operating the center under commission.
