KakaoBank Launches Hi-Pass Application and Management Service

KakaoBank announced on June 10 that it is holding an event to celebrate the launch of a new service that allows users to issue and manage Hi-Pass cards directly through its application (app).

The 'Hi-Pass Application/Management' service, which was launched last month, is KakaoBank's first mobility-related service and is based on a partnership with SM Hi-Plus, a company specializing in prepaid Hi-Pass cards.

Customers who are issuing the prepaid automatic recharge Hi-Pass card, called the 'Smart Hi-Pass Card,' for the first time can receive the card for 4,000 won, which is the lowest price among all sales channels. Issuance, payment account registration, and automatic recharge settings can all be completed within the KakaoBank app.

Customers who wish to receive the card can choose between a plate type, which is a plastic card, or a SIM type, which is inserted into the device as a SIM chip. There are no shipping fees or annual fees for issuance. Users can also set the threshold amount for automatic recharge and the recharge amount. After receiving the card, it must be registered on the 'Hi-Plus' app before use.

KakaoBank is also running a launch event from June 10 to July 11, offering benefits of up to 8,000 won per person. Customers who issue a 'Smart Hi-Pass Card' for the first time through KakaoBank during the event period and complete card registration on the 'Hi-Plus' app will receive a full cashback of the 4,000 won issuance fee.

Customers who change their existing recharge method to a KakaoBank account will receive an additional 2,000 won cashback. There is also a sharing promotion, where if a person who received the event information issues and registers a card, both parties will receive an additional 2,000 won cashback.

KakaoBank stated, "We have implemented a convenient process for everything from Hi-Pass card application to management to enhance customer convenience," and added, "We will continue to launch services that can be usefully applied to all aspects of financial life."
