Chungnam Province Launches Full-Scale Data-Driven Smart Agricultural Policy Chungnam Provincial Government Office Exterior View

Chungnam Province is opening a new chapter in data-driven smart agricultural policy.

On June 10, Chungnam Province announced that it has established a Chungnam-style agricultural database by pseudonymizing and combining agricultural management entity information with credit data from Korea Credit Bureau (KCB) and location data from SK Telecom.

This project is the nation’s first case of pseudonymized data combination, carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and is drawing attention as a data collaboration model between central and local governments.

Pseudonymized data combination refers to a method in which different sets of personal data are processed to prevent identification and then combined, enabling both the protection of personal information and precise data analysis.

The newly established database analyzes the overall farm economy of Chungnam’s farmers, including income, consumption, and debt, and is expected to significantly aid in the development of customized agricultural policies by region and crop.

In particular, it will serve as foundational policy data for various areas such as supporting young farmers, fostering high-income farmers, and providing tailored policies for those preparing to start farming.

The province plans to expand the use of this data to the agricultural product distribution sector in the future. By analyzing distribution channels and consumption patterns, Chungnam aims to improve the efficiency of agricultural product distribution and enhance the competitiveness of local agricultural products.

This agricultural data is available for anyone to access on Chungnam’s data portal, ‘Oldam’.

Jeon Seunghyun, Director of AI Data Policy, stated, "Data-driven scientific administration is key to preparing for the future of agriculture," and added, "We will continue to advance our policies so that Chungnam becomes a leading model for smart agricultural policy in Korea."
