At around 7:30 a.m. on June 10, a fire broke out in a passenger car heading toward Ilsan inside the Sapaesan Tunnel on the Metropolitan Area 1st Ring Expressway in Howon-dong, Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do.

There were no casualties from the fire, but as the tunnel was closed for accident response, traffic congestion occurred during the morning rush hour.
The fire authorities mobilized equipment and personnel and extinguished the fire in about 20 minutes after it broke out.
The police and fire authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
