U.S. President Donald Trump announced that additional nuclear negotiations with Iran will take place on June 12 (local time).
On June 9, during a roundtable on investment in the United States held at the White House in Washington, D.C., President Trump stated this and emphasized, "Iran seeks uranium enrichment, but they cannot do that."
President Trump pointed out, "Iran is demanding things they cannot have. They do not want to give up what they should abandon," highlighting that Iran remains firm on maintaining its uranium enrichment facilities.
In this context, a spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that Iran will propose a revised version of the agreement recently suggested by the United States within a few days. Accordingly, it is expected that Iran will provide a detailed explanation of its counterproposal to the U.S. side during the follow-up negotiations scheduled for June 12.
President Trump commented on Iran, saying, "They are good negotiators," and added, "However, they are very tough. Sometimes, coming on too strong is a problem." He continued, "That is why we are trying to create an agreement that avoids destruction and death."
Additionally, President Trump revealed that he had a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that day, during which they discussed the Iranian nuclear issue and the Gaza war "very well and smoothly."
