On June 9, Kim Taehum, Governor of Chungnam Province, stated, "I will devote my full efforts as governor until the relocation of the livestock farm is completed and the development of the national industrial complex officially begins," adding, "We will ensure the proper development of the Seonghwan National Industrial Complex so that Cheonan can grow into a major city with a population of one million."

Governor Kim made this pledge to support the development of the Cheonan National Industrial Complex while attending the '30th Anniversary Ceremony of the Establishment of the Beomcheonan Citizens' Promotion Committee for Livestock Farm Relocation and Development and the Completion Ceremony of the National Industrial Complex Attraction Memorial Tower' held at the Cheonan Northern Sports Center that day.

The event was organized to honor the efforts of the promotion committee, which has worked over the past 30 years for the relocation of the Cheonan livestock farm and the attraction of the national industrial complex, and to commemorate the achievement of bringing the national industrial complex to the region. Over 500 people attended, including Governor Kim, officials from the provincial and Cheonan city governments, members of the promotion committee, and local residents.

Governor Kim emphasized, "We will develop the industrial complex so that Cheonan becomes synonymous with future mobility, and we will also build a new town of 500,000 pyeong in the surrounding area. By focusing on attracting the semiconductor industry, centered on Samsung, we will extend the so-called 'semiconductor lower boundary,' which previously reached only as far as Dongtan, down to Cheonan and establish the city as the center of the K-semiconductor belt."

He continued, "We will mobilize all provincial resources, including consultations with central government ministries, to expedite the relocation of the livestock farm and work to attract world-class companies that will lead advanced industries. We promise to make the Cheonan National Industrial Complex a new core engine of the Korean economy."

Meanwhile, the creation of the Cheonan National Industrial Complex is a large-scale project aimed at promoting balanced regional development and attracting advanced industries such as semiconductors and displays by utilizing the site of the National Institute of Animal Science's livestock farm, a long-standing local aspiration.

The Cheonan livestock farm site was finally selected as a candidate for a new national industrial complex by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in 2023. In November last year, the Ministry of Economy and Finance completed the adjustment of the total project cost for the livestock farm relocation, accelerating the relocation process.

The national industrial complex will begin construction after the relocation of the livestock farm is completed. The anticipated economic ripple effects of the industrial complex include 14.2 trillion won in induced production and the creation of 58,000 jobs.
