On June 9, Hampyeong County in Jeonnam announced that it has established "Farmer Consultation Centers" at three agricultural machinery rental centers, launching on-site support services for local farmers.
The county has recently set up and is operating Farmer Consultation Centers at the Central, Eastern, and Western agricultural machinery rental centers, establishing a rapid response system to address a variety of civil complaints and difficulties arising in the field of agriculture.
The consultation centers are scheduled to operate until December, and are expected to help resolve on-site difficulties faced by farmers and contribute to increasing farm income through a range of services, including crop technology consultations, pest and disease diagnosis and response solutions, farmer education, and inquiries from those returning to farming.
In particular, the centers are helping to bridge the information gap by distributing agricultural technologies and new seed varieties developed by the Rural Development Administration to elderly farmers aged 65 and above, as well as to farms with limited access to information.
Choi Dongseop, head of the Central Consultation Center, said, "Many new returnees to farming face difficulties in crop cultivation due to a lack of expertise," adding, "If they understand and cultivate high-profit crops such as peppers, they can produce crops of sufficiently good quality."
Moon Jeongmo, head of the Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "Through on-site agricultural guidance visits, we will promptly resolve civil complaints in the agricultural field and actively support the smooth settlement of new farmers and the distribution of income-generating crops."
