On June 8, Lee secured a wire-to-wire victory after a second playoff at Seongmunan Country Club in Wonju, Gangwon Province.
Lee Gayoung claimed her second tour victory in July last year at the Lotte Open, also after a playoff. Eleven months later, she achieved her third tour win, once again in a playoff.
At an executive meeting on June 9, County Governor Oh Taewan said, "Lee's composure and competitive spirit, demonstrated through consecutive playoff wins, have set a great example for our residents."
Meanwhile, Lee Gayoung was appointed as Uiryeong County's public relations ambassador in April 2023. Uiryeong County is developing a promotional strategy in connection with the 'Uiryeong Eco-Friendly Golf Course,' which has been setting record performances every year thanks to its reputation as a 'golf course that does not use chemical pesticides.'
Previously, in December 2022, Lee donated 10 million won in scholarships to Uiryeong County for nurturing local talent. In 2015, during her school years, Lee had received a scholarship from the Uiryeong County Sports Council, creating a heartwarming story of a former scholarship recipient giving back after achieving success.
