The Gwangju Swimming Federation announced on June 9 that it will host the "National Swimming Championships," now in its fourth year as a legacy project commemorating the 2019 Gwangju World Aquatics Championships, for five days starting June 11 at the Nambu University Municipal International Swimming Pool.

This year's championships are organized by the Korea Swimming Federation and hosted by the Gwangju Swimming Federation, with support from the Gwangju Metropolitan Government. The event will take place from June 11 to 15, featuring four disciplines: swimming, water polo, diving, and artistic swimming. More than 1,500 participants are expected, and the competition will be divided into six divisions: youth, elementary, middle school, high school, university, and general.

As many national team athletes will compete in this year's championships, there are expectations that, as in the previous year, new Korean records will be set.

Lee Changhyun, president of the Gwangju Swimming Federation, said, "I would like to express my gratitude to Mayor Kang Gijung, who has supported us every year to help establish Gwangju as a vibrant sports tourism city all year round through sports." He added, "I hope all the athletes participating in this tournament will perform to the best of their abilities and achieve great results."
