Green Umbrella, a child welfare organization (President Hwang Youngki), announced on the 9th that it has opened the 'RE Project Upcycling Playground' in collaboration with the Credit Card Social Contribution Foundation, Gangdong-gu, and KB Kookmin Card.
The 'RE Project' is an environmental protection initiative that creates upcycling playgrounds using recycled materials such as discarded cards, and operates environmental education programs for children.
The 'RE Project Upcycling Playground,' established at Malumul Children's Park in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, covers an area of 1,619.1 square meters and features play facilities made by reprocessing discarded plastic cards. It is an open space that can be freely used by both children and local residents.
Green Umbrella hopes that this playground will become a place where children and local residents can naturally learn about the importance of environmental protection and resource circulation through play in their daily lives.
Separately, as part of the 'RE Project,' Green Umbrella and the Credit Card Social Contribution Foundation also conducted environmental education programs for kindergarteners and students in grades 3 to 6 of elementary school, covering topics such as resource circulation, environmental protection, and the future of the environment.
Seungjun Lee, Team Leader at the Credit Card Social Contribution Foundation, said, "It is meaningful to be able to share the values of resource circulation and environmental protection with the local community in celebration of Environment Day," and added, "We will continue to expand sustainable ESG activities linked to the characteristics of the card industry."
Jungwon Shin, Head of Social Contribution Cooperation at Green Umbrella, said, "I hope the RE Project Upcycling Playground will go beyond being just a play space and become a place where children can feel the importance of the environment and participate directly," and added, "We will continue to create child-friendly play environments in cooperation with local governments and companies."
