Indoor Pipe Cleaning Project for 750 Households in Multi-Unit Housing Complexes Over 20 Years Old
On June 9, the Hongseong County government in South Chungcheong Province announced that it will carry out an indoor pipe cleaning project for approximately 750 households in multi-unit housing complexes?such as villas, row houses, and apartments?that are over 20 years old within the county by the end of this year.
The indoor pipe cleaning project is designed to improve the reliability of tap water by inspecting household water pipes with an endoscope and removing contaminants to provide clean water. This service is offered free of charge, with no cost to individual residents.
Through a pilot project, the county implemented indoor pipe cleaning for 2,145 households in multi-unit housing complexes from March 2021 to November 2024. As a result, it was found that most residents expressed a very high level of satisfaction.
This year, the county enacted the "Hongseong County Indoor Water Supply Facility Cleaning Support Ordinance" and secured a project budget of 50 million won. With this, it plans to carry out indoor pipe cleaning for about 750 households in multi-unit housing complexes and intends to continue this project in the future.
The project will accept applications and be carried out until the end of the year. However, if the number of applications exceeds expectations, the project will be implemented only until the budget is exhausted, even if this occurs before the end of the year.
A county official stated, "We expect this project to resolve residents' distrust of tap water and provide high-quality tap water," adding, "We will continue to promote this project so that more households can benefit in the future."
