- Crayon Holds Fan Volunteering Event Combining Plogging and Junk Art with Creator Siyoon... Introducing a New Paradigm for Fan Meetings
- Turning Trash into Art, Volunteering into a Space for Memories and Connection... Leading the Popularization of Volunteering through Creative Planning
The creator volunteer organization "Crayon" (co-representatives Kim Chaerim and Kim Gwangtae) announced on the 9th that it held a plogging volunteer event with fans at Jamsil Hangang Park on May 31.
This plogging volunteer activity by Crayon was a fan volunteer event planned by Siyoon, a former member of the idol group U-KISS and a cast member of the Wavve original "Game of Blood 3." This was Crayon's second plogging volunteer event and was notable for showcasing a new fandom culture that blends the positive influence of influencers with the voluntary participation of fans. On this day, Siyoon and 25 fans wore matching sky-blue T-shirts and collected approximately 25 kilograms of trash in a clean-up effort.
This volunteer activity was meaningful not only because it involved collecting waste, but also because it included a "Junk Art" project, where the collected waste was turned into artworks. Siyoon, whose birthday was on June 4, created a cake out of junk art with fans and brought back memories by making a lettering piece for "PARAN," the group he was formerly active in. Through junk art, the event added artistic value to the volunteer work, strengthened the emotional bond between influencer and fandom, and further elevated the value of fan volunteering.
Crayon is shifting the paradigm of fan meetings to fan volunteering, creating a virtuous cycle in which influencers and fandoms generate social value together. In fact, in April, Crayon held a volunteer event at an abandoned dog shelter as a fan volunteer activity for "Miseonjjang," a leading TikToker and YouTuber in Korea. In addition, Crayon is actively engaged in various social activities, including coal briquette volunteering, food sharing, donation of proceeds to support the transport of abandoned dogs, and donation of cherished items to support independence patriots. Through these efforts, Crayon is working to establish volunteering as a cultural norm and to encourage public interest and participation.
Kim Chaerim, co-representative of Crayon, stated, "Through this activity, we confirmed that volunteering can be expanded beyond simple good deeds to become a space for memories and connection," and added, "Going forward, Crayon will continue to carry out various activities based on creators' positive influence and creative planning, so that volunteering can take root as a natural part of everyday culture."
Meanwhile, Crayon, a creator volunteer organization established in 2024, aims to spread positive change in society through the good influence of creators under the slogan "Would you like to volunteer with creators?" Currently, Crayon is actively engaged in activities based on a network of individual creators with a combined following of nearly 6,000 members and a total influence exceeding 15 million. Building on this, Crayon is focusing on lowering the barriers to entry for volunteering and encouraging participation from those who are not familiar with volunteer activities. In fact, more than half of the participants are first-time volunteers, and Crayon is leading the popularization of volunteering through ongoing program planning.
