Previously, only customers who purchased and activated the Galaxy S25 series through LG Uplus could use IXIO. With this update, customers using any Galaxy series device released after the Galaxy S21 can now access the IXIO service.
IXIO is an AI service that provides features such as real-time voice phishing detection, visual caller ID, call answering on behalf of the user, and call recording and summarization, all within an on-device environment. LG Uplus first launched IXIO for iPhone customers in November of last year, and subsequently developed the Android version, which was pre-installed on the Galaxy S25 series in March.
Now, the devices compatible with IXIO include the Galaxy S series (S24, S23, S22, S21), Galaxy Z series (Fold/Flip6, Fold/Flip5, Fold4, Fold3), as well as budget smartphones such as Galaxy A36, Galaxy A35, Galaxy A25 5G, Galaxy A23, Galaxy Buddy4, and Galaxy Buddy2.
LG Uplus customers who own a device eligible for the IXIO update can search for IXIO in the app store, download, and use the service. Customers who have purchased an unlocked device and subscribed to an LG Uplus plan, as well as those who have ported their number to LG Uplus, are also eligible to use IXIO.
LG Uplus expects that the increase in IXIO users will lead to a reduction in voice phishing incidents. The core feature of IXIO, 'real-time voice phishing detection,' works by having the on-device AI analyze the context of the call in real time and send popup messages and notifications if a suspicious conversation is detected.
Additionally, as early as this month, IXIO will be equipped with an 'anti-deep voice' feature that detects AI-generated fake voices. The anti-deep voice function allows the AI to identify characteristics of deepfake-generated voices and notify customers, helping to prevent cases where a scammer uses a deepfake of an acquaintance's voice for voice phishing. Choi Yunho, Executive Vice President and Head of the AI Agent Promotion Group at LG Uplus, stated, "Through IXIO, we will continue to enhance features to ensure not only convenience in calls but also peace of mind when using our communication services, thereby transforming the customer experience."
Meanwhile, LG Uplus is offering benefits for new customers in line with the expansion of IXIO-compatible devices. Until July 21, customers who newly subscribe to IXIO will receive free 'phishing and hacking protection insurance.' Customers enrolled in this insurance are eligible for compensation of up to 3 million won if their bank account is debited or their credit card is charged due to scams such as phishing, hacking, smishing, or pharming. In addition, customers who sign up by the end of August will receive a three-month subscription to 'Google AI Pro,' which provides access to various AI features, including Google Gemini.
