Witnesses Say "The Couple Cut in Line, Sparking the Incident"
An assault incident occurred at Shanghai Disneyland in China. A dispute over the order of taking photos escalated into physical violence.
On the 4th (local time), Viral Press, People, and other outlets reported on an incident that took place on May 31 near a photo booth inside the Shanghai Disneyland Resort.
At the time, a couple who was taking photos got into an argument with a family of three because the family appeared in the background of their camera shot.
According to video footage recorded by witnesses, the couple engaged in a violent physical altercation with the father of the family. A woman wearing a large ear-shaped hat approached the mother, who was holding her daughter, and pushed the daughter's face. Startled, the mother screamed and collapsed to the ground, while the couple pushed the father against a wall and even attempted to choke him.
Other tourists nearby intervened to break up the fight, and security personnel responded to the scene, bringing the altercation to an end. Disney staff provided first aid to the two men involved in the conflict, and it was reported that both sustained only minor injuries such as abrasions and bruises. The child was not seriously injured.

Viral Press relayed statements from some witnesses who said that the couple had ignored the line and cut in to take photos, which triggered the incident.
This is not the first time that a dispute among visitors at a Disney park has escalated into violence.
In 2023, at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, a fight broke out between two families in front of the Walt Disney 100th anniversary sign as they argued over taking photos, which escalated into an assault.
In 2022, at the Magic Kingdom in the Florida Disney Park, a fight broke out in a queue for an attraction, resulting in three people being arrested on assault charges and one person being taken to the hospital. The cause of the altercation was reported to be line-cutting.
In 2019, at Disneyland in Anaheim, at least two families, including at least six adults and children, were involved in a brawl. A video of the four-minute altercation rapidly spread online, surpassing three million views on YouTube.
Other incidents include a case in 2018 at Shanghai Disneyland where a man punched a Mickey Mouse character for simply walking past him, and an incident where a woman assaulted an employee dressed as a chipmunk character, causing the employee to lose consciousness.
