Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, expressed his anticipation by stating, "Under the Lee Jaemyung administration, the people will be the true owners of the nation."
On June 6, Jeollanam-do held the 70th Memorial Day Ceremony at Damyang Peace Art Square to honor the patriotic martyrs and fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country.
Approximately 400 people attended the ceremony, including Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Jeong Chulwon, Mayor of Damyang, heads of veterans' organizations in Jeollanam-do, and families of veterans.
The event began at 10 a.m. with a moment of silence accompanied by a siren, followed by a sequence of activities: floral tribute and incense offering, presentation of the governor's commendation, memorial address, commemorative performance, and the singing of the Memorial Day song.
In his memorial address, Governor Kim stated, "I believe that the Lee Jaemyung administration, which was established by the power of the people on June 4, will truly open an era where the people are the true owners of the nation, where the people are happy, and where the era of radiant popular sovereignty will begin in earnest. Jeollanam-do will be the most reliable partner in this solemn and great journey, and we will do our utmost to usher in a new era of brilliant future prosperity."
Meanwhile, in recognition of June as the Month of Patriots and Veterans, Jeollanam-do is organizing various events, including the governor's commendation for exemplary veterans, a ceremony commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Korean War, and a national security photo exhibition. In addition, a large banner bearing the phrase "The yesterday they protected, the tomorrow we will create" has been displayed on the outer wall of the provincial government building to remind people of the spirit of patriotism.
