President Lee Jaemyung on June 6 congratulated the South Korean national football team on qualifying for the FIFA CONCACAF World Cup finals.
On this day, President Lee stated via social networking services (SNS), "Qualifying for the World Cup finals for the 11th consecutive time is an achievement accomplished by only six countries worldwide and is a first for Asia," adding, "I am truly proud of our national players, who have never missed a single finals stage since the 1986 Mexico World Cup."
President Lee continued, "The pure passion and sweat displayed on the field always have the power to unite the people," and expressed, "In these difficult times, I hope the remarkable achievement of our national football team provides great comfort to our people."
He also mentioned, "I wish the team a successful and injury-free preparation period so that they can achieve their goals on the stage of the 2026 World Cup."
