Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, reversed his statement about withdrawing the Dragon spacecraft just a few hours after making it. Previously, Musk had announced his intention to withdraw the Dragon spacecraft in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's warning that the federal government would terminate its contracts.
However, on June 5 (local time), Musk changed his stance in response to advice from a user on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). A user with the account name "Alaska" said, "You and Trump are not the kind of people to react emotionally like this. Step back and think about it for a few days." Musk replied, "That's good advice. I will not withdraw the Dragon."
Earlier that same day, Musk had posted a message referencing Trump's remarks, declaring, "Since the contract cancellation could become a reality, I will immediately withdraw the Dragon spacecraft."
President Trump wrote on his platform Truth Social, "The easiest way to save billions of dollars from the federal budget is to cut off government subsidies and contracts with Elon." This comment was aimed at SpaceX, which is operated by Musk.
