Mungyeong City Public Health Center in Gyeongbuk is conducting outreach cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
The Mungyeong City Public Health Center announced on June 6 that, from March to May, it visited senior community centers in each town and township of Mungyeong City to provide "outreach cardiopulmonary resuscitation training." The training was held a total of 13 times, with approximately 215 seniors participating.
The training focused on hands-on experience simulating real emergency situations. It covered the basic principles of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), direct practice using mannequins (dummies), instruction on how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and information on the locations of AED installations nearby, all aimed at improving practical response skills.
An official from the public health center stated, "Older adults often have difficulty responding to emergencies such as cardiac arrest, so it is crucial to clearly convey the importance of initial response and to build confidence through hands-on practice. Thanks to the high participation of citizens, the effectiveness of the training has also increased significantly."
One senior who participated in the training said, "It's natural to panic when an emergency occurs, but through this training, I learned how to respond calmly, which was a great help."
The Mungyeong City Public Health Center plans to expand CPR training in the second half of the year in cooperation with Dongguk University Gyeongju Hospital, targeting local related organizations and groups. This will provide more citizens with the opportunity to put the "four-minute miracle" into practice.
