NCSOFT's AION2 Unveiled: Enhanced Aerial Combat and Separate Race Servers

NCSOFT's next-generation massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) 'AION2' has finally been unveiled. Scheduled for release in November 2025, AION2 not only captures the essence of the original but also reimagines it with a modern touch.

On June 5, NCSOFT revealed the core game content during the live broadcast 'AION2NIGHT,' held ahead of the game's launch.

AION2 inherits the unique appeal of the original 'AION,' where races such as the Elyos, Asmodians, and Balaur engage in conflict and battle. While preserving the original world view to evoke nostalgia among longtime fans, the company has decided to address imbalance by separating servers by race. Each race will grow in its own independent world and experience faction wars (RvR) through periodic matchmaking. The combat system will feature delayed hit detection and a non-targeting system, while excluding auto-combat. Baek Seungwook, Chief Business Officer (CBO), said, "We deliberated a lot, but ultimately decided to exclude auto-combat to make the game more enjoyable."

As aerial combat is the hallmark of AION, AION2 will offer an even more advanced flying experience. Players will be able to traverse regions 36 times larger than those in the original, overcoming previous technical limitations. AION was the first Korean game to introduce flying content, changing the paradigm of MMORPGs.

The original's customization system, which captivated countless female players, has also been further enhanced. Players will enjoy fine-grained freedom across more than 200 areas of customization. This allows for deep immersion from the character creation stage. Unique options that were popular in the original, such as large-head or chibi customization, will also be available.

Mini-games and content designed for casual enjoyment also stand out. Obstacle racing and dodge games will offer players a fresh sense of fun. Mounts, which can be obtained by collecting fragments dropped from field monsters, will not only boost combat efficiency but also add to the enjoyment of character progression. For beginners, an 'easy mode instance dungeon' will be available.
