During the meeting, key issues were shared and thematic reports were presented, covering topics such as the "2025 World Green Growth Forum Achievements" by the MICE Industry Division, the "Comprehensive Countermeasures for Storm and Flood Damage" by the Safety Management Division, and the "Countermeasures for Storm and Flood Damage in Pine Wilt Disease Control Areas" by the Greenery Division.
Mayor Lee requested a reestablishment of the status of the "World Green Growth Forum," a MICE event developed and first held by Pohang City this year, and called for a gradual expansion of its scale and content in conjunction with the future Pohang International Exhibition and Convention Center.
He especially emphasized the need to actively develop Pohang's unique MICE content to enhance international competitiveness and to concentrate administrative efforts on invigorating the local economy and tourism industry.
He also ordered thorough preemptive measures for summer natural disasters, instructing a comprehensive review of the storm and flood response system and detailed inspections of risk factors in pine wilt disease control areas to prevent damage in advance.
Additionally, noting the changes in national governance following the presidential election, Mayor Lee urged strategic responses to ensure that Pohang's key issues are included in the new government's national agenda.
He especially called for accelerating efforts to secure national funding and propose policies, urging everyone to work together to secure growth engines for the region.
Furthermore, with the local economy and livelihoods facing difficulties, he stressed the importance of thorough preparations for the opening of beaches in July as well as for various festivals and events, calling for all available municipal resources to be mobilized to stabilize livelihoods and restore the local economy.
Mayor Lee Kangdeok said, "Please make every effort to ensure that Pohang's core projects are adopted and promoted as national policy tasks. In addition, let us all do our utmost so that every public official can open the future of a sustainable city through proactive administration centered on our citizens."
